Study of Polymorphic Transformation Processes and Their Influence in Polycrystalline ZrO2 Ceramics upon Irradiation with Heavy Ions

The aim of this work was to study the mechanisms polymorphic transformations in ZrO2 ceramics under irradiation with heavy ions, as well determine nature structural distortions case t-ZrO2 → c-ZrO2 type and associated anisotropic deformations. samples were irradiated Kr15+ ions an energy 150 MeV fluences 1011–1016 ion/cm2. During evaluation changes depending on fluence, it found that at low (1011–1012 ion/cm2), main role is played by deformation crystal lattice, which have a pronounced character. Meanwhile, above 1013 ion/cm2, type, followed amorphization damaged layer 1015 It established distortion lattice more along crystallographic axis, (011) texture orientation, characteristic t-ZrO2. transformation processes occur 1013–1014 ions/cm2, are characterized formation overlap local areas defects appear trajectory material. dependences strength thermophysical properties fluence obtained. influence disorder decrease crack resistance established.
